The Current Situation in Kenya
|
December 27th, Kenya's presidential election was close and rumored to be corrupt. It resulted in disputed results which started large scale rioting. So far over 600 people have been killed, 200,000 displaced, slums have been burned, and commerce has halted. Shortages of fuel and food have already begun. Thankfully our teamates in Turkana haven't seen any conlict and are stocked up on supplies. All other CMF missionaries are now in Nairobi waiting to see if things improve. They all have contingency plans ready in case the situation escalates. Please pray for the political parties involved to work toward a solution, pray for the security of the missionaries and that they may know direction when important decisions need to be made, and pray that the Kenyan church may shine during this dark time in the country.

Lifting voices together in Gahanna, OH.
December 2nd we were be back with Stonybrook UMC in Gahanna, OH speaking at their 24/7 service. The 24/7 service is an upbeat contemporary time of worship that fills the santuary with energy. We also got to share with the youth group before the service. They are already active in missions and currently preparing for a trip to Mexico. We enjoyed visiting with supporters and friends and had a very enjoyable morning. Praise God!

Stillwater UMC
December 9th we were speaking during all services with Stillwater Church in Dayton, OH updating them on our progress and estimated date of departure. It is Chad's parents' church and where we took our first bible study as a married couple. It was great to be back with all of our friends and supporters there. With four services (including the branch site in the YMCA) it was a whirlwind morning, but what a blessing! We left encouraged and wishing we could worship with them more often.
