Peace at Last! Peace at Last!

Finally, both parties have reached an agreement to share power within the government. Kibaki remains President with a Prime Minister position given to Odinga. The two will share power until the next election in two years.   Residents are still anxious, hoping the leaders will abide by their agreement. Missionaries in the field are reporting that daily life is returning to normal again and work is resuming.

Cerro Gordo Brethren Church
The weekend of February 23-24th we visited with Cerro Gordo Brethren Church in Illinois. What a great time. We were the last speakers for their missions month. Our hosts, Bob and Margie Champion, made us feel like family and Pastor Terry was very welcoming and helpful. We spoke about our ministry during the Sunday School hour and during the service. Afterwards there was a luncheon where we got to visit with everyone. They are a congregation very involved in ministries around the world and passionate about missions and outreach. Pastor Terry has great vision for their impact in the community, as well as globally. We are glad to be partnered in ministry together.

Our Training is Scheduled

We have scheduled our last training before leaving for the field. March 31st we begin our langauge and culture training with MTI outside Colorado Springs. We are looking forward to learning the information and spending time with others heading for the mission field (including our teamates Scott and Kristi Seidel). It is a five week course ending May 2nd.

Chad will then be driving to begin a two week food production training in North Carolina beginning May 4th.  He will be learning about plant and animal husbandry, irrigation, soil management, farming systems, food preservation, product utilization, and  aquaculture.  He is studying materials now in preparation for the course and ready to learn applicable ways to help the Turkana in these areas.
